Practical Dental Surgery | Dual Stream Workshop

October 31 @ 7:00 am - November 1 @ 5:00 pm AEST

This course is a fantastic destination for all vets who perform small animal dentistry – especially those who’ve had less access to practical dental training, mentorship, and personal feedback.

Whether you scored just a few sessions of actual, hands-on dental training at university or as a new grad, or you’re already moderately immersed, this workshop will show you how to get along with more complex dental extractions in everyday practice. And make Every. Single. Dental. Easier (even the so-called ‘easy’ ones).

Over 11.5 hours of supervised hands-on practice with personalised feedback, you’ll extract maxillary canines and carnassials; see how the experts hold and manipulate dental instruments to get the best results…and revise why it’s so important to sing nursery rhymes under your breath while you apply consistent pressure against the periodontal ligament.

With our exciting new dual-stream vet + nurse/tech format, you get two days of training for two clinical professionals. Your veterinarian brings a plus-one, at no extra cost.

Who should attend

Veterinarians, Veterinary Nurses, and Veterinary Technicians.

Learning outcomes

Vets sink your teeth into:

  • Oral tissue handling
  • Planning & lifting flaps
  • Maxillary canine extractions
  • Maxillary carnassial extractions
  • Feline quadrant extractions
  • Feline specific tissue handling
  • Fractured tooth root retrieval
  • Achieving the best possible closure
  • Those (sometimes dreaded) owner conversations

Nurses/Techs sink your teeth into:

  • Understanding periodontal disease
  • Taking dental radiographs
  • Charting the tooth exam
  • Scale & polish
  • Home care conversations
  • Instrument care
  • Anaesthesia of the toothy kind

There are two types of vets: those who embrace dentals, and those who bravely (or loudly) struggle through them. If you’re more likely to avoid than to volunteer, this workshop just might be life-changing.
