Changes to Vets Choice Pet Insurance – What Members Need to Know

From 24 July 2026, AVA members with Vets Choice Pet Insurance will see changes to their policy at renewal, as Guild Insurance transitions the Vets Choice Pet Insurance to Coles Ultimate Pet Insurance.

Detailed information about policy changes, inclusions and any differences will be communicated directly to policyholders by the insurer prior to renewal. Policy holders will receive a renewal schedule and supporting documentation outlining everything they need to make an informed decision about their cover. This ensures you receive clear, accurate and policy-specific information straight from the provider.

Importantly, Guild Insurance has confirmed that if you elect to renew your policy under Coles Ultimate Pet Insurance, continuity of cover will be maintained at renewal. This means conditions previously covered under a Vets Choice policy will remain covered, and waiting periods already served will not reset.

A strong and enduring partnership
The Australian Veterinary Association has a long-standing and valued partnership with Guild Insurance, built over many years of shared commitment to supporting veterinarians, their clients and the broader profession. Guild’s deep understanding of the veterinary sector has enabled the delivery of tailored insurance solutions that reflect the realities of clinical practice and pet ownership.

Through this transition, Guild Insurance continues its role as underwriter, working in collaboration with Coles to deliver pet insurance to Australian pet owners. This partnership enables the AVA to strengthen its advocacy for animal health and welfare, public safety, and the wellbeing of Australia’s veterinary workforce. We sincerely thank Guild Insurance for their ongoing support which has been instrumental in advancing these priorities.

Members who have questions or wish to opt out of renewal can contact Vets Choice Pet Insurance directly at vetschoice@guildinsurance.com.au or by phone on 1800 999 738 Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm.
