Consultation: NSW Biosecurity Strategy

The NSW Government is currently seeking feedback on their Biosecurity Strategy. The draft Strategy is currently open for feedback from the public.

The draft NSW Biosecurity Strategy presents a new whole-of-government framework for cooperative and collaborative action to uplift and improve the system. The draft Strategy sets out priorities and actions across four focus areas:

  • strengthening adoption and compliance with the biosecurity duty
  • driving partnerships and collaboration to support cross-tenure and cross-sector outcomes nationally, state-wide, regionally and locally
  • delivering an agile and strategic approach to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from risks
  • improving the biosecurity systems and infrastructure that enable coordinated, dynamic approaches to planning, surveillance and compliance It reinforces that a strong biosecurity system is the result of collective efforts by all its stakeholders, which is why we want to hear from you.

The veterinary sector plays a critical role in biosecurity, with producers, supply chain businesses, and workers on the frontline, managing these risks through daily practices.
