The AVA has lodged a submission to the Victorian Government’s review of the Radiation Regulations 2017, supporting the introduction of an approval framework for Personal Radiation Monitoring Service Providers (PRMS), as reliable radiation monitoring is critical to staff safety.
The proposed framework would bring Victoria into line with national standards and improve consistency, accuracy and reporting of occupational radiation exposure.
The AVA submission highlighted that veterinary teams work in diverse environments and called for a risk-based, practical approach that minimises administrative burden, particularly for small and ambulatory practices, along with national harmonisation to support those businesses that work across multiple jurisdictions.
