The AVA has lodged a submission supporting the APVMA proposal to classify second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) as Restricted Chemical Products.
The AVA submission recommends the change as necessary to reduce risks to wildlife, companion animals and livestock, as well as broader environmental harm. It supports restricting access to authorised, trained users and notes there are no reasons the proposal should not proceed. Also includes was a call for clear national definitions of authorised users, appropriate training frameworks, and education to support a shift to safer alternatives.
