The AVA lodged a submission to the WA Parliamentary Veticare Inquiry which highlighted that improving access to veterinary care cannot be separated from the workforce and business sustainability challenges facing the profession. Rising costs, increasing demand, and ongoing workforce shortages are all limiting availability of services, while veterinarians continue to deliver significant public good—often without funding. The AVA is calling for targeted government investment and carefully designed policy solutions that strengthen the profession while improving affordability for those most in need. The AVA’s submission will be made available following completion of the Inquiry.
