The AVA WA Division is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified members who wish to be considered for recommendation by the AVA WA Division for appointment to the Veterinary Practice Board of Western Australia.
The WA Minister for Agriculture and Food has invited the AVA WA Division to recommend suitable candidates for one veterinary position on the Board, with the successful appointee’s term commencing following the expiry of the current position on 31 December 2026.
AVA EOI Process
AVA members wishing to be considered for recommendation should submit their application documents to robyn.whitaker@ava.com.au no later than Friday 25 September 2026.
Applications will be considered by the AVA WA Division Executive, which will determine the recommendations to be provided to the Minister on behalf of the Division.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be registered as a veterinarian in Western Australia.
- Have their principal place of residence in Western Australia.
Desired Skills and Experience
The Minister has advised that applicants should demonstrate:
- Substantial experience working in mixed or large animal practice.
- Leadership qualities, communication skills and independent judgement.
- Critical thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
- Experience engaging and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and the functions and responsibilities of the Board, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Capacity and willingness to commit time to Board activities and comply with confidentiality and code of conduct requirements.
