The profession we represent
Veterinary services are essential for Australia
Veterinarians safeguard Australia’s food security, biosecurity and animal health. They support the 73% of Australian households that own a pet, underpin a $32.2 billion agriculture industry and protect export markets worth billions to the national economy. Across 3,793 practices and a workforce of nearly 30,000 people, they serve every community in the country. The Australian Veterinary Association is their national voice, representing the veterinary profession for over 100 years.
