Internship guidelines

The EVA Internship Guidelines have been developed to provide a practical framework for designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality equine veterinary internships in Australia.

They promote transparent employment conditions, structured clinical training, effective mentorship and clear performance expectations, while aligning with national veterinary standards. The guidelines support both employers and interns in creating safe, educational, and career-focused internship programs.

The individual documents have been provided below as separate documents. The prospective intern and employer checklists are designed to be used as is and have been provided in PDF format below:  

The ‘internship guidelines template’ and ‘example internship skills acquisition list’ are templates which are intended to be modified by individual practices to suit their unique internship program and have been provided in Word document format below.
