ACV President’s Report – August 2026

August started with several of our members attending the Charters Towers BULLCHECK accreditation workshop on the 7th and 8th of August. This was our second accreditation workshop of the year and means we now have more members starting to become examined and accredited to use our BULLCHECK certification standards.

 

I thought it was important to remind members that while the workshops are a great way to get examined and accredited in one go, they aren’t the only way, and we do have 36 examiners across Australia who can examine you for accreditation when you are ready.

This is similar for both PREGCHECK and BULLCHECK. How do you find an examiner? They are kept up to date in our mylearning platform and you can find one by logging into the AVA website, going to https://www.ava.com.au/community/sig/cattle/bullcheck and scrolling down to find an examiner – alternatively simply send us an email and we can help you connect.

Also last Thursday and Friday the ACV executive met with Dairy Australia staff including former exec member and DA staff member Steph Bullen to identify opportunities for closer collaboration. Discussions focused on reproduction, calf pathways, animal welfare, and veterinary education, with several joint projects and member engagement opportunities now being explored. We thank DA for hosting our executive and being so hospitable.

We also used the opportunity to forward plan for 2027 including our webinar, workshop and conference program, and it is looking really strong.

Keep an eye out on Circle as we look to engage with you, our members, on a few key topics to ensure our planning is in the right direction.
